Matte black was the ubiquitous colorway of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy line up when it first debuted and again with the wildly successful Galaxy S 2. The Galaxy series saw a departure from the dark side to the slightly more colorful “pebble blue” that has found its way onto numerous devices from the S3 to the Note 2 and S4. Now, after being released for the better part of a year, Samsung has finally announced the black S4 and S4 minis, complete with black faux leather backs.
The S4 internals will remain the same with the tried and true Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 SoC with a 1.9GHz quad-core Krait 300 CPU and Adreno 320 GPU. The display is a 5-inch 1920×1080 Super AMOLED, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with a 13MP shooter. The black S4 Mini will also maintain the same hardware specs as its counterpart with a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400, 1.5GB RAM and an 8MP camera.
It should be noted the the S4 and S4 Mini Black Editions are for now, exclusive to the Russian region with a list price of $660 and $460 respectively. No word on an international or U.S. release, but expect it to be in tow!
