As flagship device hardware converges to similarity—1080p displays and Snapdragon processors—software becomes a key component to enhancing the user experience. It is important that OEMs give timely updates but its up to the users to be prepared to receive them. Today we’ll be going over how you can stay up to date with the latest and greatest Samsung Android updates.
In addition to updating your Galaxy S4, this guide applies to many other Samsung devices such as the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Zoom, etc.
The tip is quick and easy:
- Hit the Menu button and go to Settings
- Go to “More”
- Scroll to “About device”
- Select “Software update”
- Tick the “Auto update” and “Wi-Fi only” check boxes
Many times the auto update box may not be ticked on, so make sure to do this otherwise you won’t receive OTA updates. Also be sure to tick the “Wi-Fi only” so you don’t waste hundred of megabytes downloading updates on your data plan. Now that your device is on a regular update schedule, it will have a healthy diet of periodic updates that fix bugs and improve performance!
