Samsung has been getting better and better about firmware update with each generation of hardware, and we’re pleased to announce that both the 7 and 10.1 inch versions of the Galaxy Tab 2 are being updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Android 4.1 is arguably the most significant and powerful update to Android in the last couple years as it adds significant performance bump with Google’s project butter, along with improved UI controls and Google services integration. The update was first announced at IFA in late August, but is now being pushed out via an OTA update.
Your device should notify you when the update is available, but to manually check, go to Settings > About tablet > Check for software update. Since the jump from 4.0 to 4.1 in pretty hefty (expect a few hundred megs), make sure you have enough juice (50%) left and a solid WiFi connection before downloading and installing the update.
