Samsung is always striving to provide great integration with all their different electronics, whether it’s with smartphones, tablets, televisions or washing machines, chances are you will find an Android application that will help you use synergize them.
Samsung’s Smart Camera is not your run-of-the-mill digicam–the “Smart” in its name refers to its WiFi connectivity which allows you to directly share your photos and upload them to your social networks and more interestingly, sync up with your Samsung Android phone to remotely view what your camera sees.
Samsung’s Remove Viewfinder app allows you to use your Galaxy S, S2 and Tabs to:
- Directly view the camera’s preview on your Samsung smartphone or tablet
- Control photo parameters remotely; Timer, Flash and Photo-size
- Focus on objects and Capture Photos in any position
- Geo-tag your photos with your Smartphone/Tablet’s GPS
The cool thing about this app is that it works without having to share a router based WiFi connection; instead it uses your phone to create a mobile hotspot which the Smart Camera can then connect to. So now you may be thinking, “when can I use this app?” Well this type of remote is best suited for use with a tripod–you can now setup great family portraits without having to run back and forth between the camera. Also, taking product photos for Ebay and Craigslist just got much easier now that you can adjust camera settings without fiddling with (and bumping) your camera.
