Samsung made made a breakthrough with widget design when they integrated resizeable widgets in their TouchWiz interface on the Galaxy S II. Lucky for us Galaxy Note users, we have some exclusive resizeable widgets as well! This is a great feature for the Note because of it’s increased display resolution, which adds an extra column’s worth of room to the homescreen. Each size setting can be adjusted by long-pressing the widget and then dragging the bottom right corner of the box to one of the designated, yellow resizing points.
One of my all time favorite Samsung TouchWiz widgets, AccuWeather’s widget is simple and pretty, with options to display:
- 2 x 1: Current temperature, location, time and an icon of the weather
- 5 x 1: Current temperature, location, high/low, description/icon of the weather, time and date
- 2 x 2: Current temperature, location, high/low, description/icon of the weather and time
- 5 x 2: Current temperature, location, high/low, description/icon of the weather, time, date and a 5 day forecast (shown in screenshot above)
Do you frequently access a blog or website? Try pinning it to your homepage with the bookmark widget. It can be sized so you can fit multiple pages on a single homescreen, and shows a preview of the page as well.
The S-memo is a nifty little widget that allows you to post resizeable stick notes on your homescreens. As you can see from above, the S-memo widget is the most resizeable of the bunch, allowing you to fill any gaps left by other widgets.
