So you disconnected your phone during a critical firmware update and bricked your phone. Don’t worry, it’s not the end of the world. That’s in 2012.
Lucky for you, plenty of other have gone through this same problem and have documented their success stories using two different methods. The first method is a softhack and uses the Odin flashing software to resurrect your phone.
1- Start Odin
2- Attach the USB cable to the PC (DO NOT ATTACH IT TO THE PHONE)
3- Press and hold “Volume up” and “home” buttons
4- Attach the USB cable to the phone while holding both buttons
5- The phone will enter in download mode
Install a new firmware and everything is going to be OK
God forbid this doesn’t work, you can try the slightly more difficult albeit more fool proof method using a hardware jig. Here’s a video of the fx in action with instructions on how to build one yourself:
Here is a good news to all galaxy S users, this is an alternative way to get your galaxy s into Download mode without the 3 Button Recovery (3BR). It is the ONLY WAY to unbrick your galaxy S when it doesn’t have 3BR enabled. (Just like mine)
You can build it within few bucks.
1. A very cheap Micro USB cable, don’t use high quality cable as we going to cut off the wire.
2. 301k ohms resistor. In this video I was using one 300k 1/4 watt & one 1k 1/4 watt resistors. You may also use 3 x 100k + 1 x 1k resistors.
3. Solder the resistors together and place each end to the 4th & 5th pin of the micro USB. you may refer to this picture.
4. You’re done. Plug it in to your phone and wait few seconds. You will got the download screen. =D
Hopefully these two videos will help you bring your zombie phone back to life without to much difficulty; tell us how it goes in the comments below!
