UPDATE: So Samsung has officially moved their Kies 2 out of beta and now has an information page that is in english describing the new changes for the software.  It also lists the officially supported devices which are:

  • Galaxy S I9000
  • Galaxy 3 I5801
  • Wave 525
  • GT-S5233A
  • Galaxy 5 I5503

You can download the software from here.

Samsung has recently released a new version of their syncing software called Kies.  It has been upgraded to 2.0 and released as a Beta on their Korean support site.  While the site is in Korean, you can download the app directly here and upon installing it will ask which language you prefer.  Now we’ve written a few articles before on how to try and fix any Kies problems you were having so it will be interesting to see if this new update does the trick. The update also brings about a music store and iTunes/WMP playlist integration.

We unfortunately only have US based Galaxy S models which aren’t supported by Kies so we need YOU our readers to help us out.  We need you to download the software from the above link and see if your device will connect to it.  Give us a short summary of your experience with the new software below in the comments and let us know if you did or did not experience problems with the original Kies as well.  Thanks and Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Where can I get kies saver, which is supposed to fix the computer recognition issues with Galaxy tab 10.1 wireless?

  2. dr. Sarkar Haider September 16, 2011 at 4:11 am -

Friends- I have my galaxy tab 10 (GT1000) i was very happy with it till I ran into KIES the site suggested me to upgrade the firmware I did it hoping things shall get still better but following that the speed got considerably slowed . before this clicking photos was a matter of maybe milliseconds and was sheer pleasure but now it will take atleast 3 sconds befre i know if it has really saved the photo when the review comes to life well after looking in my dark black screen for 3-4 seconds . the video film got terribly dark and most importantly before this I was being prompted after connecting tab to PC i used to mount the device and could do all needed things most importantly transferring my photos and videos in reasonably good speed just like any other device i have used in past but now if i tell you guys you are probably not going to believe that I AM TRANSFERRING MY PHOTOS TO MY PC SINCE YESTERDAY MORNING IT IS ALREADY 30 HOURS PAST AND THE INDICATOR TELLS ME ONLY 1080 PHOTOS HAVE BEEN SAVED OUT OF 1780 so I guess i will have to leave my tab attached to my PC tonight as well in my office . hopefully by tomorrow after noon may be i get my photos in pc provided some pc issues etc donot crop up and reset the cycle of download. I fear to remember i have equally heavy videos to transfer how long it is gonna take i dont know .. may be a week ?.. lol.
The first thing after transferring my photos ad videos ( which are precious to me) I will downgrade the firmware or wait!! … I’ll most likely reset the galaxy tab to its factory setting.
I have never experienced or even heard a more lithargic programme than kies in my entire computer experience which by all means is pretty good.

What a load 0f SHITE !!!! User Interface looks like it was designed for a 1980’s VIC20 computer, slow as a tortoise loading, terrib le wait for phone connection, CRAP. I’m going to uninstall and try re-installing the previous version. Totally agree with Jules, useless, stay away from it.

  7. Jules February 23, 2011 at 2:17 pm -

Finally got it to work – oh. my. god.
This is possibly the worst piece of software I’ve EVER come across. Even worst than iTunes.
You can’t edit any music files, you can’t even see your actual photos (just file names – handy!). And your apps don’t show up at all. Oh no, wait, I can have all the Samsung Apps I want. I guess I’ll never use Android Market again. Thanks Kies.
    What a load of rubbish…

  8. Jules February 23, 2011 at 1:23 pm -

I’ve just installed the new version of Kies having had no problems with the previous one, so figured it wouldn’t hurt…
In pain! It doesn’t recognise my Galaxy S. Why why why?

  9. Blad Pritt February 2, 2011 at 12:25 pm -

Installed new version on Win7 and could NOT connect my Galaxy S at first. Needed to go in Kies/Tools and install driver for device again and reboot. After that i could connect but i still cannot load my contacts into kies. Pictures and other files is no problem but the contacts list will not load….

    Dear Bob,

Kies, to my knowledge, still doesn’t support any US flavor of the Galaxy S line. If you’re looking to update your Vibrant to froyo, you can check out our article on that here Hope that helps

I have a Samsung Vibrant (the T-Mobile USA version of the Galaxy S), and Kies says it doesn’t work with my phone.

Regarding GT-S 3310i – How to connect to PC
GT-S 3310i can not connect with Samsung PC Suite. It’s useless for this model. I downloaded and installed V1.50 of Kies. It too failed. I let it upgrade. It upgraded to V1.53. Then I was able to connect.

On the Phone select Menu-Settings-PC Connections-Samsung Kies.

You can save contacts on phone mem and Mem card. Not all sms msgs were displayed. No editing or sending sms. You can transfer or copy images, photos and videos to and from phone mem or mem card.

Kies V200_1101_16_5 on PC running WinXP. Working OK to Sync Calendar on Outlook Office 2007 and Samsung S5620 Monte. A great improvement.

    Dear John,

Check out this article and go to the bottom where we recommend a hard reset. In that section it details how to backup all your information through 3rd party applications. Hope that helps.

I installed kies on Windows 7 64 bit. I have a Samsung Captivate Galaxy S cell phone in the United States and it says this device is not supported by kies 2.0

I wish there was some option to back up all the data I have on my cell phone. At least save the apps.

  17. Squash8720 January 9, 2011 at 4:01 am -

I have a Galaxy S on UK Orange network and have had problems using all versions of kies including 2.0 on Windows a Xp desktop PC but has connected perfectly on a notebook using Vista. Reformatting could be the answer here as I have many applications running on this machine that talks back to base via the internet. If your galaxy S when trying to upgrade to Andriod 2.2 advises through kies this firmware cannot be upgraded this is because the firmware has been locked and you will need a replacement handset or unlock the firmware so that it can be upgraded.

  19. P.Schmitz January 7, 2011 at 9:40 am -

    Dear Abe,

Have you tried Kies Mini at all?

  20. Abe January 6, 2011 at 7:15 pm -

I have the Galaxy S GT I9000. Before Kies 2.0 my computer would not even recognize the phone unless it was in mass storage mode and the USB mounted. I cleared out my SD card (erased it) and that cured the recognition problem from my computer. Now the device shows up on the “computer” menu (Windows 7 64-bit).

However, Kies 2.0 still fails to connect to the phone. I now sync calendar and contacts via Gmail because Kies stinks. The only reason I want Kies is to upgrade to Android 2.2 and upwards from there. If there were another easy way, I wouldn’t even care about Kies. So, I’m stuck.

Actually, I’m somewhat glad to see other are having trouble. Misery loves company, I guess 🙂

  21. Fins January 6, 2011 at 12:17 pm -

I have installed the software on my laptop (Win 7 Pro, 64 bit, i3 Core CPU) and it works perfect. My device is a Dutch Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000, working on Android 2.2.

  24. Don December 28, 2010 at 7:32 am -

Sorry my mistake. When I tried to connect the phone to Kies 2 for the second time it did not recognise the phone. No surprise there. UK phone by the way.

  25. Don December 28, 2010 at 7:27 am -

Tried downloading Kies 2.0 from the Korean website but it does not have any option for syncing anything other than music, photos and video. Useless

  26. Timiboy December 25, 2010 at 11:42 pm -

INstalled on Win7 x64 without any problems. It will not receodnize my Galaxy S GT-9000 with JPU firmware. Unfortunately the help is in Korean so it hard to say more. I wonder what phone this KIES is written if it does not work with the most recent and common !?!?! It clearle detects the phone (which is an improvement for me) but states it is not supported 🙁

  27. Lee Everidge December 25, 2010 at 11:05 pm -

Today Dec.25th, upgraded to the latest u.s. kies. It would not recognize my Samsung facinate. This phone was recommended to me by the Verizon salesman. I now wish that I went with another phone and another carrier. I am disappointed with the phone and the so-called Verizon service. My advice, run quickly away from both.

I live in South Africa. Kies 2 automatically connects to my Samsung Wave GT-S8500, ut there is no option to synchronize my contacts or my schedule with Outlook, which is very disappointing.
The Samsung Store is also not available for South Africa, which was nog the case with Kies 1.53xxxx.
I have some problems with Kies 1.53xxxx, but at least I could sync with Outlook some of the times.
    I have Vista Business.

    Dear Siberiss,

Thank you so much for helping us test this. We will update the post accordingly so that people know which devices currently are and aren’t working. We’ll switch those models around once we know more as well, thanks again!

  31. Siberiss December 23, 2010 at 12:23 pm -

Installed fine on Windows 7 (x64), but after connecting my Galaxy S (GT-I9000HKDXEN), I received a message that the device was not supported. Before, I experienced no problems of any kind with Kies
