According to BGR this afternoon, the Samsung i897 will be known as “Captivate”.  As we have reported last week, the specs are identical to the Galaxy S but there may be a CPU switch up: Hummingbird out, Snapdragon in.  Its form factor is also comparatively different as well.  Below is a comparison between Captivate and Galaxy S.

Samsung Captivate

Samsung Galaxy S

As you know, Samsung Galaxy S will have the following specifications and we expect the only difference (if any) is the GPU maker for the Captivate:

  • Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
  • 480 x 800 pixels, 4.0 inches
  • ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor
  • GPU: 90 million triangles/s
  • Android OS, v2.1 (Eclair) with TouchWiz 3.0 UI
  • Swype text input
  • 8 GB/16GB storage, 512 MB RAM
  • Slot: microSD, up to 32GB
  • 5 MP camera, autofocus
  • 720p HD video @30fps
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • A-GPS support
  • 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9mm, 118 g
